Hello! I am Dr. Heather Mathewson, Associate Professor in the Wildlife and Natural Resources department, Tarleton State Univ., Stephenville, Texas. As you can see from our project descriptions and my CV, I have a diverse research program. If I had to identify a unifying theme, I would say that we focus on wildlife populations and their interactions with anthropogenic changes in the environment.

I am proud to serve as the faculty advisor for the Tarleton Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society. I am also the coordinator for our MS in Agriculture and Natural Resources and the co-coordinator for the Doctoral program in Animal and Natural Resource Sciences. I am an active member of The Wildlife Society and the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society and serve on committees and working groups whenever possible. I teach workshops in R and RStudio that primarily focus on beginners or on data management (I like big, messy datasets).

I received my B.S. and M.S. from Texas A&M University in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences and my Ph.D. from University of Nevada, Reno in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology.
